Behind Closed Doors: The Reality of a Day in the Life of a Senior Caretaker!

As we grow older, we feel that everything is out of our hands. A strange feeling of loneliness begins. Whether everyone is together at home or not, it is still natural to feel alone. At this age we need someone who is ready to help us, who can help us in our daily activities. Need a caretaker. As such, the role of a caretaker is challenging and demanding. But having a caretaker has a positive impact on our lives.

In this article, we'll take a closer look at what our caregiver's daily routine entails. Caretaker: This can be anyone. It could sometimes be a member of our family, or a neighbor, or a distant relative. Or someone we have hired. Everyone has only one job, to worry and take care of us.

• Well, it's early in the morning these days...

Insomnia is our main problem. Earlier, when we were small or young, we liked sleeping very much. And we also sleep more at that time. But today, with this old age, our sleep has also been lost. Today our night starts very late and the day starts early. For this reason, the caretaker's day also usually starts early in the morning.

• Someone close to you, someone who cares...

The caretaker reaches your home early in the morning and inquires about your health. Asking a question early in the morning can sometimes seem good and sometimes painful. But the motive behind this is only worry. We should also respond well to the caretaker.

• Someone close to you, someone to support...

After this, help us in bathing, getting ready, help in doing exercise or yoga, help in meditation, etc. Work may be involved. Additionally, caretakers help you with breakfast, taking into account any dietary restrictions you may have. After breakfast, this also includes giving you any necessary medicines.

• Someone close to you, someone who can help...

Exercise is an important part of our daily routine. Depending on our mobility, the caretaker can help us do some light exercises, like stretching or walking around the house, etc. Exercise is important to maintain physical and mental health. Many times, despite our desire, we cannot exercise due to physical disability. We need someone who can help us in exercising. Caretakers help us in this. Which also helps in keeping diseases like arthritis, heart disease and dementia away from you.

• Now external work will become easier...

After exercise, you will usually find this caretaker helping you with some household chores. But household chores do not mean that the caretaker should do the cleaning, washing clothes, preparing food, etc. for you. We should appoint someone else for these works. Yes, caretakers can help us in paying bills, bank work, any office related work. Remember, before giving any authority to anyone, we should talk to our family members.

• Social involvement and hobbies

If you want to get rid of loneliness, you will have to meet people. This is necessary to maintain our mental and emotional health. In the race of life we are not able to fulfill many of our hobbies. We like to travel, sing, play something, etc., but we never get time. Today is the time, but today I cannot do anything alone. Caretakers help us fulfill this hobby. They may be playing games with us, reading or going out for a walk or singing songs etc. Let's work. They help us to stay connected to the world around us. And removes our loneliness.

• All day companionship

After lunch, the caretakers can help you relax for a while. Afternoon and evening or night medicine, diet, etc. But they care. By arranging for them to sleep at night, they can complete their day with us.

Taking care of ourselves requires a lot of patience, compassion and dedication. To do this work, the caretaker must have both physical and emotional energy. It is also gratifying for them to help maintain the quality and dignity of someone's life. They are dedicated to us. They make a real difference in our lives and care about us. Therefore, we should also have affection and respect towards them.
